Where is Isla Contoy located?

Isla Contoy, Mexico, is located in Quintana Roo, approximately 30 km north of the peninsula. The island is 8.75 km long and 200 to 700 m, 500 m wide on average; it has an area of ​​230 hectares of land surface.

Isla Contoy was declared a protected area in 1971 and is the refuge of important marine birds of the Mexican Caribbean, like frigates, cormorants, pelicans, and swallows, thanks to its lagoon covered with mangroves.
